After Hours Emergency

If your horse is experiencing a medical emergency outside of normal business hours, our emergency veterinary service is available. Do not hesitate to call if you are concerned about your horse.

When to Call

  • Signs of colic (pawing, rolling, looking at flanks, sweating)
  • Severe or uncontrolled bleeding
  • Suspected fracture or severe lameness
  • Eye injuries or sudden swelling
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Foaling complications
  • Collapse or inability to stand
  • Suspected snake bite or toxic plant ingestion

What to Do While Waiting

While waiting for the veterinarian to arrive:

  • Keep calm and keep your horse as calm as possible
  • Remove any hazards from the immediate area
  • If safe to do so, move your horse to a safe, well-lit area
  • For wounds, apply clean pressure with a bandage or clean cloth
  • For suspected colic, remove all feed but allow access to water
  • Note the time symptoms started and any changes
  • Have someone available to assist the vet on arrival
