Our Mission
At EEVS, we believe horses deserve veterinary care from professionals who focus exclusively on equine health. However, in the face of an extreme and growing veterinarian shortage, traditional models of care are no longer enough to ensure every horse receives the attention it needs.
Our mission has shifted to address this critical challenge. Today, our primary focus is on educating horse owners. We are dedicated to empowering you with the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills required to manage your horse's health and provide essential care when a veterinarian may not be immediately available.
Dr Louise Cosgrove
EEVS is led by Dr Louise Cosgrove, a highly experienced equine veterinarian with over 20 years of clinical practice who now works independently to support the horse community. With a deep commitment to horse health and owner education, Dr Cosgrove combines decades of hands-on clinical experience with a genuine passion for equine welfare.
Her expertise spans the full spectrum of equine veterinary medicine, from emergency care and lameness evaluation to reproductive services and preventive health programs. Recognising the severe vet shortage affecting horse owners, Dr Cosgrove has made it her life's work to bridge the gap between professional veterinary medicine and proactive owner-led care.
Through initiatives like the DIY Horse Vet Course, Dr Cosgrove provides accessible, high-quality education that teaches owners how to accurately assess their horse's vital signs, manage wounds, prevent colic, and handle emergencies with confidence.
